When I first looked over this CD by the bluegrass band Cold Creek, I learned they are from Utah. Bluegrass music from the Beehive State? Well, actually yes, and good bluegrass music to boot. The first sound you hear on this album, titled "Faithfully," is of a mandolin front and center, unabashedly chopping a rhythm into the microphone. Soon a banjo joins in for a brief duet, and that morphs into a group riff that gets the ball rolling. The song is called "Five Finger Discount," and it is one of six original songs written by Cold Creek guitarist Bill Sprunger.
